Banana Bread
Banana bread is a favourite of mine. I thank my mother for introducing me to this not-so-bread bread. The texture of banana bread is different because baking soda is used instead of yeast. Unlike regular bread, batter, instead of dough, is used to bake banana bread. The nost important ingredient of all is, of course, the bananas. These elongated fruits are mashed then mixed in with the batter afterwards.

It is usually baked in loaf-shaped pans. There are plenty of varieties of banana bread.Families from generation to generation pass down banana bread recipes. Perhaps the most common varieties are banana nut breads, which are made from standard banana bread recipes but include walnuts or pecans.

Banana bread has long been a staple of baking and other cooking activity books. The fact that it tastes like a cake but is easier to make puts this classic in almost everybodie's list of recipies.

In addition to being tasty it is also versatile. It makes a great on-the-go breakfast item, either at home or grabbed at the coffee shop where the busy professional stops for his or her daily dose of java. Packed in a lunchbox, it makes a great ending to the afternoon meal, but is just as likely to be a warm after-school snack waiting when children climb off the bus. It can also serve as a last-minute dessert option when unexpected guests pop over and you find yourself whipping up a quick meal.

If whipped together before dinner and popped into the oven it makes a wonderful accompaniment to a relaxing cup of tea while watching evening television.

There are a lot of breads out there. Cinnamon being one of the more popular. There are creamed breads and iced breads and just about any other bread you can think of. But because of its subtle and mild taste, banana bread just beats them all.
